The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the SSC GD 2026 exam date, impacting over 48 lakh candidates across India. According to the latest update, SSC will conduct the Computer-Based Test (CBT) between April 27 and May 30, 2026, in multiple phases to manage the large number of applicants.
SSC GD 2026 Exam Date and Schedule
The exam will take place in four phases—April 27 to May 2, May 4 to May 9, May 18 to May 23, and May 25 to May 30. This phased schedule ensures smoother coordination and reduces pressure on exam centers across the country.
In a key update, SSC has introduced a “week preference” system. Under this system, candidates must log in to the official portal and select their preferred exam week between April 11 and April 15. However, the commission clarified that this is only a preference, and final allotment depends on availability and administrative factors.
Further, SSC will release the city intimation slip 7–10 days before the exam. It will issue admit cards 3–4 days before the test date. These documents include details such as exam centre, reporting time, and shift timing.
SSC GD 2026 Vacancies and Selection Process
A total of 25,487 vacancies are available across forces including CAPFs, SSF, and Assam Rifles. Moreover, the selection process includes a Computer-Based Test, followed by the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), and a medical examination.
Therefore, candidates should complete their preference submission early and continue preparation with regular practice and mock tests. Overall, the updated system reflects SSC’s effort to streamline exam management and improve the candidate experience.
